Wall Art Print Size & Aspect Ratio Guide

Understand the print-ratio families, pixel dimensions and 300 DPI concepts behind digital wall art files before preparing your Etsy-ready bundle.

Aspect ratio and print size are related, but they are not the same thing

An aspect ratio describes the shape of an image. A 2:3 file can scale to multiple physical sizes that share the same shape, while moving from 2:3 to 4:5 changes the composition and normally requires a different crop, margins, or an extended background.

What 300 DPI means

DPI metadata tells print software how densely pixels should be placed when a file is translated into physical dimensions. It does not add image detail by itself. Source resolution, sharpness, compression and any resampling or AI upscaling all affect how much usable detail the image contains.

Crop, Fit or Extend?

Full Bleed Crop

Fills the entire target ratio. Some edge content may be trimmed when the source shape differs.

Fit

Preserves the full artwork and uses margins where needed rather than cropping the composition.

Extend

Preserves the artwork while filling unused space with a blurred ambient background.

Build the ratio bundle automatically

Instead of manually calculating and exporting every ratio family, upload one artwork to PrintRatio, choose portrait or landscape, select the fit mode, optionally use AI upscaling, and download the resulting files in an organized ZIP.
